Endodontics, or root canal therapy, is a specialized dental procedure that involves the removal of infected or dead tissue from the interior of the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal, and filling the space with biocompatible material in order to preserve the tooth and prevent further spread of infection. This procedure is typically recommended when the tooth pulp has been damaged or infected due to decay, trauma, or other factors. The tooth is then restored with the placement of a crown or another suitable prosthetic restoration to ensure its long-term conservation in the dental arch.
